  2. SIMPLE_RENT II is a friendly Rental Property Management system for 
  3. the non-accountant landlord, providing a menu-driven environment 
  4. for tracking income and expenses involved in managing Rental Properties.  
  5. SIMPLE_RENT II is a complete system without artificial limitations.
  6.  
  7. SRENT2.EXE is a "self-unpacking" file which installs SIMPLE_RENT II
  8. on the current directory.  If you want to install SIMPLE_RENT II onto 
  9. another directory make a new subdirectory (example MD \RENTS <Enter>).  
  10. Copy SRENT2.EXE to the new subdirectory (COPY SRENT2.EXE \RENTS <Enter>).
  11. Change to new subdirectory (CD \RENTS) and run SRENT2 (SRENT2 <Enter>). 
  12. You may erase SRENT2.EXE as it is no longer needed (DEL SRENT2.EXE <Enter>).
  13. Start SIMPLE_RENT II by typing S2 <Enter>.

  15. Sample data files are provided for review purposes.  To use your own data
  16. rename the sample files (REN *.DBF *.DBX), then run SIMPLE_RENT II
  17. (S2 <Enter>).  New (blank) data files will be generated.
  18.  
  19. From now on you should start SIMPLE_RENT II by changing to the \RENTS
  20. subdirectory (or wherever SIMPLE_RENT II is installed) and typing
  21. S2 <Enter>.  Your data files will reside in the same subdirectory.

  23. It is not advisable to install ANY user software on your ROOT (top)
  24. directory as the root directory can accomodate a limited number of files.
  25. Refer to any DOS manual for more information on file management.
